Casa Taco Elephant Butte will be CLOSED from Wednesday December 20 through January 4, reopening Thursday, January 5, 2017.

Our Grand Opening special (Albuqueruqe only) – Walking Tacos for $1 – has resulted in a pretty big debate over on Facebook: is it called a Frito Pie or is it called a Walking Taco? And if you call it a Walking Taco, are you even worthy of owning a taco shop? 🙂
It’s Frito Pie on our menu, but for the promotion, it’s served in a Frito Bag and you’re “walking”…so we went with Walking Taco, which is what Midwesterners call it. We didn’t mean to poke a hornet’s nest, but we did. People have strong feelings about this!
So call it what you like, but be sure to visit the Albuquerque location this coming Friday Saturday & Sunday (August 28-30, 2015) to get a bag of delicious Fritos topped with our house-made pinto beans, ground beef, red or green chile, cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomato – for only $1!

Here’s a photo of our yummy beef tacos on the grill (with a brisket taco or two on the back row). After they’re grilled we dress them up with fresh taco toppings like lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. Grab your own fresh salsa from our salsa bar; sour cream & guacamole may be purchased separately.

The Nacho Mama Platter is a heaping plato of handmade seasoned tortilla chips topped with our house-made chile con queso, pinto beans, shredded cheese, lettuce and tomato. Substitute brisket (shown here) or add a 2 oz. scoop of guacamole, 2 oz. scoop of sour cream, or jalapeños for an extra charge.
Home-made dumplings, with vegetables and chicken…just like James’s Grandma used to make! This will be on the menu until the weather warms up, at $3.95 a bowl.
Casa Taco Chimichangas – cubed beef, potatoes, cheese and green chile, wrapped in a flour tortilla and deep-fried, then served with sour cream and beans and rice plus your choice of chile (red, green, or both). (Shown above: no sour cream.)
We first bit into a Chimichanga in Phoenix in the early 1980s. According to Wikipedia, “though the chimichanga is now found as part of the Tex-Mex repertoire, its roots within the U.S. seem to be in Pima County, Arizona.”
If you love rolled beef enchiladas, then visit us on any Thursday night and bring your appetite! Thursday is when our Enchilada Special is available – any time after 4pm, get beef enchiladas (a la carte) smothered in either red or green chile (or both) for the tiny price of $1.50 each.
Hope to see all you enchilada lovers soon! As a reminder, enchiladas are always available on our menu, and in varying styles (flat, rolled, cheese, chicken and beef). But if you want them for $1.50 per, then get out here on Thursday.

We’ve added another item to our menu for the short-term – Blue Corn Chaquitos – influenced by the tasty food of Central Mexico! We roll spicy chicken in blue corn tortillas, fry them crisp then smother them in a savory tomatillo sauce with monterey jack cheese.
Did you make it out to Elephant Days? The weather was great, the carnival was awesome, some way cool prizes were doled out, and everyone seemed to have a great time.

Introducing Mason Alexander Pecherski born at 6:10pm on Valentines day.
At birth, weighed in at 7lbs 12oz. 20″ from head to toe.
It was with profound pleasure and excitement that we welcomed “Mr. Bill” (you know, of “Saturday Night Live” fame) to Casa Taco this past Sunday!
Mr. Bill had gone on a tour of Spaceport America earlier in the day, and the tour guide was kind enough to recommend Casa Taco to the tour group as they cruised back to the station.

We can practically make tacos in our sleep, but GIANT tacos, like the kind you affix to the top of Jared’s Jeep? They require a different skill set.
We figured we needed a trained artist. And it was getting late! Andrew Martinez of Hot Springs Frame & Art Supply was fortunately available and willing.
It undoubtedly helped that he’s studied our tacos closely and with regularity – meaning, almost every Sunday at around 1 – and he did a superior job.
He even threw in salsa and chip! Thanks Andrew, great work!
